Why I became a Tomboy Tool Woman...

My name is Bernadette, but my friends and family call me Berni and I invite you to do the same.  I am a single parent with three great kids ranging in age from 20 to 7 years old.  I've always enjoyed doing things myself and I love the DIY shows... Toolbelt Diva, Clean House, Flip This House, Flip That House, etc.  Way back when I even used to watch Bob Vila faithfully every weekend!

My First Home and My First HOUSE!

When I lived in my first home, a townhouse, I found that I was the one responsible for what I wanted.  So, I finished the basement, I replaced my kitchen floor, I replaced faucets and doors.  Sure I did have help with some things, but those things I was able to do myself -- those projects were the best!  In 1999, I bought myself a house for my birthday, and I found out that the fun things were not the only ones that needed done.  I also found out that those things that aren't so fun (like plumbing repairs), actually can save you a lot of money if you can do them yourself!

Then I Discovered Tomboy Tools...

When I found Tomboy Tools, it seemed to be a good fit... but I still wasn't sure...  Then I had the opportunity to meet two of the founders, Mary Tatum and Janet Rickstrew, and talk to them directly about why they started this company and the Tomboy Tools mission and goals.  That was when I knew -- I had to be part of this company!
