So, why did I join Tomboy Tools???

 

Hmm...  That is an interesting questions.  Of all the direct selling companies out there, why did I choose Tomboy Tools?  

 

I am a military spouse.  With that comes constant moves....which makes for a very unstable career plan.  For years I looked at different things, and nothing really fit.  I have a strong passion for helping families cope with the stress that comes with being in the military.  Deployments, moves, training missions, constant upheaval, loneliness that comes with being far from family and always having to make new friends, and the feeling of personal loss when a spouse has to adjust original "plans" to follow his or her love around the world are all too familiar to me.  So, 5 years ago, I found my niche in reaching out and helping spouses "go with the flow" and grab this life and make it their's.  

 

After becoming very familiar with the things that can just about break families' backs, it dawned on me that basic tool skills and knowing how to do things around the house (which lays the ground work for confidence to learn more and further build skills) would not just lift the weight off of spouses' shoulders, but it would further strengthen their confidence to face whatever lies around the corner when things are rough.  So, for years, I spent time learning all I could for my self and so that I could help others walk on.  While stationed in Germany, this longing to help empower women to have the confidence to learn and be able to "get the job done" grew stronger and stronger.  

 

The common saying is "when they leave, everything goes wrong."  While we may not be able to prevent Little Tommy from breaking his arm, we can learn to adjust the washer so that it doesn't dance anymore.  Sweet Keira will still get that cold that sweeps through the whole household, but that constantly clogged drain can be safely cleaned out.  When the roar of the children is followed by a thud.....silence....and an "oh no."......that hole in the drywall does not have to stay there.  These "things" that arise in the home no longer have to make us sit on the step with our head in our hands.  Yep, we will still be miffed....but then we can square our shoulders and take care of it.  The sheer fact that we know how and can do it brings confidence when we need it most. 

 

I had no idea Tomboy Tools existed.  It was a "pipe dream" for me.  I wanted something that I could share with others so that the "things" wouldn't stand in the way of living their lives.  Then, one day, after moving to Hawaii, I did a search on women's tools.  That is when I found Tomboy Tools.  As a tomboy, I fell in love with the fact that they were high quality tools that actually fit my small hands.  Initially, I just wanted a set of basic tools of my own.  That was before I read more about their mission and the philanthropy that the company is involved in and encourages its consultants to be involved in as well.  At that point, I was hooked.

 

After arriving on the islands and falling in love with the culture and the people, I realized that Tomboy Tools is a company that could help charities raise money to help support the needs on the islands...from the schools to the building of homes through Habitat for Humanity.  

 

So, why did I join Tomboy Tools???  Because I long to see women grow in confidence and abilities, see the revitalization of communities through Honolulu Habitat for Humanity, see charitable organizations (501c) have the funding to make a difference in the lives of children and people in our community, and see high quality tools in the hands of women every where.
