Inspired and encouraged by her "fix-and-flip" mentality and her friends' need of seeking advice and help with their home projects, and driven by the spirit
of entrepreneurism, our CEO and Co-founder Janet Rickstrew had a vision to create a unique company that would offer women hands-on education, quality tools
and the opportunity to learn, share and earn additional income in a fun setting.
The vision of starting a direct selling company came to fruition when friend and former basketball teammate, CTO and Co-founder Mary Tatum brought her
database programming, web development and e-commerce experience to the forefront to help launch the online store and Consultant back office management
The vision turned to reality in 2000 with the launch of the website featuring an online store and forum where women could come together to share ideas and
challenges they faced with maintaining their homes. With less than 1,000 square feet of warehouse and office space combined, the Tomboy Tools business was
off and running in 2000.
With the support of family and friends, they put their plan into action. Their experience combined enabled them to recognize the need for quality tools
and techniques that were not cumbersome for women to use or learn and that that made working on projects easier. More than ten years later, their business
has moved to a succession of progressively larger facilities, and blossomed into a thriving business opportunity where women can come together in a fun
environment to share knowledge and inspire others to tackle basic projects and learn simple cost-effective and money saving tips.
